We made it to Paris!

We made it to Paris after four tough days of cycling.  We had our ups and downs (quite literally) but it was all worth it when we finally caught our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

We made it!

We will be putting up a more detailed post in the next few days but in the meantime here are a couple of pictures of us at a familiar landmark!

Oxford to Oddington and home, 16.5 miles

We were supposed to cycle 50 miles on Sunday but bike maintenance issues resulted in a slow start.  When we finally got going it didn’t take us long to get thoroughly cheesed off with the bitterly cold head wind and at times hail.  6 miles into the ride and we were cold and grumpy.  7 miles in and we had had enough. Our early training rides were undertaken in somewhat peculiar winter garb (see previous post).  In the hope of fooling ourselves into thinking we are proper cyclists, we recently updated our cycling wardrobe with an injection of Lycra.  Unfortunately we made our purchases with spring in mind.  It is not up to winter conditions.  When it started to lightly snow we decided to call it a day and go home after a slight diversion to Oddington. The place didn’t seem that odd to us although they appear to allow their children to drive.

Welcome to our blog!

Welcome to our cycling blog!  The idea of cycling 280 miles from London to Paris seemed like a much better idea when we signed up for the challenge before Christmas.  Our Virgin Giving page tells us we only have 98 days left to go and we have barely started the training.  Wish us luck, we’ll need it!
